Well, It's not so much of my problem, but my GF's. We just installed new drivers for her ATI 1050 series card, and after doing that - we have this weird pixel in the upper left hand corner of her desktop - See below

So, anyone know a solution? Thanks in advance.

You're not alone with that, this artifact appears to have come with the newest Catalyst Control Center V8.1

I see it on this computer running Vista 64-bit using a 2900XT

It doesn't appear to be in full screen games though so I wouldn't get too worried about it.

I don't know about the general population but when it comes to ATI drivers I go for the driver alone without the whole control center and it seems to cure all the problems I encounter. The latest was with vista home premium + a 2600xt with HD. The control center installed a HD audio driver which took over and refused to run in conjunction with the standard audio device. Took off CCC and no more problems..

So anyway.. Try it with the driver only and see if it's still there. I'd be curious to know.

I belivie its an App window ,very small window ,i noticed it a few times on my desktop when windows is booted.I think its a service like maybe a driver service.
Dont think you sould worry about it .

For now though, I guess we'll look into it more later.

HiJAckThis is a commonly used piece of software that searches for viruses and spyware on your hard-drive. It's used over networks alot for contamiantion-prevention. The name is dubious, but it's functionality isn't.

Though if you looked it up through Google you would have easily learned what it is. Even through Wikipedia:

From the creator's website (Merijn):
HijackThis: A general homepage hijackers detector and remover. Initially based on the article Hijacked!, but expanded with a lot of other checks against hijacker tricks. It is continually updated to detect and remove new hijacks. It does not target specific programs/URLs, just the methods used by hijackers to force you onto their sites.
As a result, false positives are imminent, and unless you are sure what you're doing, you should always consult with knowledgable folks before deleting anything.

Those were from the first few links from a Google search for HijackThis.

Unlike what Tatile said, it will not remove spyware, viruses or malware. It does not prevent them at all. It scans through your registry and reports all commonly hijacked areas for you to review and evaluate.
