Lightbulb Lag spike each few minutes.

Hello.
My GW started lagging since 2 weeks. It just happened out of nowhere. Now I can't play normally because every ~10 minutes my ping is on 10k and I'm experiencing a total freeze due to such a big lag. I've tried defragmenting the whole disk using the methodes described in a sticky thread. Tried reinstalling the game as well. Also searched for spyware/trojans/viruses etc. Nothing helps.
Once I've noticed that the lags were gone for 2 days. No idea why this happened but it was not so long after I defragmented disk C (only). Maybe just a coincidence with another event.

I run DSL 512 with an Asmax BR-804 router.
Another thing worth noticing is the fact that (on 1gb RAM) my GW uses most of my CPU (~80%).

Thank you for your help regarding my problem.

What sort of connection are you on, wired or wireless? Are you on a router and/or using a software firewall? If you are on a router, is your Internet shared? Do you have anti-virus and other programs running in the background such as anti-spyware or other programs that check the Internet for updates?

I'm on wired connection with a router. Apart from that I use Win XP Pro SP2 Firewall. My internet connection is shared. I run antivirus on background as well but it checks for updates only once a day.Turning it off isn't helping. I've made sure that nobody who shares my connection isn't causing lags as they weren't using computer at all when my lags happened.

Have you tried resetting your modem and router?

Just a thought, but if any of the other computers were on and have any infections then that could attribute towards network latency.

You can also try doing a traceroute to one of their servers, all you need is the URL or IP.
Start > Run > cmd
Type the following:
tracert <url or IP here>
