if you are satisfied with GW running at 5 fps with lowest settings, then yes, it will run guild wars.

Ultra-portables, such as that one, are designed just for web browsing, note taking, etc. You'll notice that it has the Intel 950 integrated graphics, which is about as low-end as you get these days (and which has problems playing GW). The screen is only 1024x600 - which means you may be able to get not-too-bad frame rates, if GW will support it. It would be very pixelated, low rez and small (8.9"), but might do for farming, etc.

Yea, I should have actually done some research but that was the only one I could find in my price range. I'll probably try and get a better laptop once I have the extra funds.

Thanks for the comments. ^^

Minor update.

Was able to actually get Guild Wars to run on the laptop. My current FPS was at 26-30 the highest. I haven't altered the game settings other then putting it in windowed mode. So it looks like I'm going to be playing after all. :3

I have an awesome gaming computer, but its such a pain to lug around, so I bought one of those mini-laptops - just for the extra portability. I wasn't planning on playing GW or any high graphics games on it, but I thought I'd check here, just out of curiosity and low and behold! -my question answered - and the exact same laptop - what are the odds!?

I was initially just planning on installing a few older RTS games and an older fps or two. I wonder if the original Far Cry will work on one of these.

Have fun with the game and thanks for posting this question.

far cry will probably "work" but again at ultra low settings and with some lag as well.

my macbook has intel 950 graphics, and it runs pretty steady at 30fps, sometimes 60fps depending on what i'm looking at. i also run it at 1280x800.

These mini-laptops don't have an optical drive. What would be the quickest way to install GW? I have a 4 Gig flash drive, if that would help any. Surely there's a faster way that just downloading the client - which would take quite a while I imagine, even with my high speed dsl.

Thanks for any answers.

EDIT: Would this be a good way? I can download a virtual drive, burn a GW .iso on my main PC, then transfer the .iso with my flash drive.

Download the client from GW.com. Abort the updating. Copy gw.dat from your desktop on your flash drive. Copy gw.dat from your flash drive into the GW directory on your laptop.

Thanks Arduinna, will do. My gw.dat file is a hair too big for my 4Gb flash drive at approx. 4.14Gb. And I almost bought an 8Gb flash drive yesterday at Best Buy for only $27.00! I'll have to go buy one tomorrow.

Yea I was pretty surprised that it worked. I could probably make it run faster if I edited the settings. The only downside I see is the loading time from loading the city or the area if you haven't been there before.

You can make an icon to download the client outside of the game. I found the instructions on questions and answers I believe. Just do a search with the word "client," and it will probably give good results. This is what my shortcut says: "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image

When you click the icon, it downloads all of the game areas. This way you wont need to wait to enter an area. Someone with more knowledge on the subject will hopefully post a better explanation about the client thing.

About the mini-laptop, these things are great! They're very small, and I've already loaded a few of my fav older games. Don't expect to play many new games on them, but they should play just about any game more than about 3 years old. This gives me a good reason to play some of the greats - Diablo 2, Starcraft, Stronghold Crusader, and Baldur's Gate - just to name a few.

As a matter of interest, Aries - have you been to any of the known graphical trouble spots? Rata Sum is a good test - if your system can run GW in Rata Sum, it can run it anywhere

I only planned on getting the original Guild Wars for the time being actually. ^^; Something to escape to when I'm not playing Final Fantasy XI. But since, I'm planning on getting a HP laptop shortly after my B-day I'll probably get the rest of the expansions by then too. So for now, its just Prophecies.
