Default ATI or Intel Motherboard

AMD* or Intel for Motherboard? The comp I am building is for gaming obviously so I'm wondering which side I should look at. Thanks in advance.

Edit: It's AMD. 2am posting is ftw.

rather odd question if you ask me, since ATI is the GPU-branch of AMD and they do not make motherboards.

Intel does produce motherboards, but usually you're better off with one of the better "3rd-party" manufacturers like ASUS, DFI, MSI, Gigabyte to name a few.

Thats the site I'm on, I click Mother Boards to purchase and it only gives those two options so I assumed those were either the best or the only options :S.

The choice presented there is based on CPU-choice (because of different sockets) and has nothing to do with the actual motherboard brand.

If you have no idea what that means, i would strongly advice you to do a fair share of research/reading before even considering building your own system ...

Intel based motherboards will take Intel Processors only & AMD based motherboards will take AMD processors only.

Intel rules for high end, bleeding edge performance, but AMD kicks Intel's arse in the cost effectiveness department. Of course it depends greatly on what you actually buy, but this is assuming something near the top of the line for either Intel's line or AMD's line of processors. "Most people" won't notice the extra performance from an Intel system in everyday use, even while gaming. Intel is nice, but it's way more expensive, so I would go AMD...... but maybe you have lots of money to throw around; if so then by all means get whatever you like.
