Default I Need Help Buying a Computer :(

Well guys let me first start by saying i am in no way technically inclined.

I know what a mouse and keyboard and a motherboard are.

but when it comes to ram/graphics cards and megabytes i'm totally lost.

So, i need some help.

I have 800 dollars to spend and i'm looking to buy a new computer. I prefer a desktop because i've had a laptop before and it just didn't work out to well. I find there not that great for gaming.

Now for the requirements.

The funny thing is that i really only need it to be able to play guild wars atm. I mean it still needs to have internet/all the essentials but gaming-wise it just needs to be able to play guild wars lag free with ventrilo in the background.

So what type of computer do i need?

Can you guys recommend one or tell me the parts i should purchase?

I don't need 8 billion ram and a $1000 graphics card because like i said i really only play guild wars.

Help me please!!!!!

Thanks guys

adam

what kind of monitor do you have? you won't even need a HD4850 if your monitor is smaller than 22".

do you need an OS or are you set there?

Are you planning on building this yourself - or do you want to buy it prebuilt???

Sounds like a pre-built would be best here.

With a lack of computer knowledge, building your own wouldn't be wise.

Both the $499 and $599 will play GW no problems.

The best thing to do if you dont want to go through all the trouble of buying the seperate parts and building the computer yourself. Is to go to tigerdirect.com and look for a computer with decent specs. GW is not a high req game unlike Crysis and that sort. So just look for things like:

2.0+ghz processor
ATI- 3000 series or better- Nvidia 7000 series or better
2+ gb of RAM
200gb HD

And from there it depends on what kinds of things your looking to do on the computer.
