Default Netbook Help

Hello Tech Guru's, I am in need of your expertise's. I am looking into buying a Netbook for classes. A lot of my classes use PowerPoint that they post online for us to download. My current laptop has a terrible battery life and it is $155 to get a new battery. So I was looking at Netbooks that can run PowerPoint and Word. It will be used primarily for classes and that is basically it. Maybe music and internet when needed, but it will not be used for gaming or anything strenuous. I am looking for a good Netbook that is under $300 with anything between $200 and $250 being most preferable.

Four that I have just glanced at are:

Dell Inspiron Mini 9
It is refurbished but I don't think that will be a huge problem.

Asus Eee PC NetBook

Acer Aspire One
Refurbished Acer

HP Mini 115NR

Those are just four that I have found any advice on where to find a better one or a cheaper one would be much appreciated. Thanks.

you should be able to get a replacement battery for $50 or less; however if you do get a netbook I would vote for the Asus model.

The ones I looked at from Dell, since I have a Dell, were between 130-160. Hmm I did just find one for 50 bucks. Will have to look into that. Still wonder about the netbooks though.

I just replaced a Dell battery for my sister in law - cost from Dell $185 - cost from Ebay (yes it's an actual Dell replacement battery too) - $38.99 - Dell pricing on parts is terrible.

Indeed it is. Dell can get away with overpricing them though because people are too worried about being ripped off from other places. At least from Dell they know it is right.

But I still would like opinions on which netbook would be best if I got one.

We bought 2 Acer Aspire Ones. Battery life is great, price was great, and it surely serves its purpose.

I <3 my netbook.

Never buy HP. They always come with too much crap and proprietary problems.

Try buy.com they have some down around $220 although screen is smaller and, I assume, battery life is not high.

I got the Acer. It is awesome, battery life seems perfect for my needs for it. I have an external that I will use to run any large programs I need for it. Thanks for the help guys.
