The 9800GT has high Cobalt doping. It will be fine at those temps, but the rest of your system... yeh, you might want to upgrade airflow in the case in general.

I am ditching this POS HD5870 as soon as possible! If you are serious Moriz, I am too. As soon as Fermi drops, it's all yours.

I don't have a backup card moriz. @_@ Well, I do, but it can't run anything (It's a 6600GT).

You have a backup card, yes? Or am I off base here? And, Fermi will be out far before another month.

yeah i have a backup card. a GT 240, the bad version with DDR3.

i think i'll hang onto my 5850 then. it's not like i REALLY need the additional performance. if anything i need a platform upgrade before i get a new graphic card. the G33+E7200 combo is really beginning to get long in the tooth.

i won't count fermi to have general availability that early rahja, unless you know something we don't.

I might... Fermi will have far better availability then the 5800 series did, lol.

yeah, the loyalty mission involves sticking the "graphics by ATi" sticker onto my case. i didn't do it, so my card went poof.

anyways, if this is even half true:
http://www.semiaccurate.com/2010/02/...gtx480-scores/

then you better hang on to the 5870 rahja. yes, this is semiaccurate, but strangely enough, they've been strangely very accurate about a lot of things.

Just got the replacement card today, only a week after I sent it out; had some issues with my receipt. the card is another hd4890 OC, except this one came with a 6+8pin power connectors, instead of 6+6 I had before. The card is also slightly bent on one corner, due to the crappy box they packaged it in. Fortunately, the card works perfectly. So the answer to snog's question is: RMA is fast, but packaging sucks.
