Hi there. I've had my laptop for a while now and the only real problem with it is there are no media keys. While normally i wouldn't mind usally when listening to music on it i have the screen turned off to save power.

What i'd love to do is rebind the function keys so when i press fn+any of the arrow keys it will pause skip etc. ATM the arrow keys do not have a secondary function.

Now i hear this is pretty much impossible to do via BIOS etc, however i was wondering if it is, how, and if not if there is any windows softwhere (vista in my laptops case) that enables me to add/change the fn keybindings.

Here is an article on remapping keyboard keys. I know how to do this through the registry, however, try a couple apps before you go poking around in your reg.

Also, if you have any further questions or problems, you can pm me anytime. On another note, Quaker may know of a free app to do this. I haven't had the need to remap any keys (outside of linux) in a very long time.

*Your BIOS doesn't control the layout of your keyboard, it only detects hardware available for your OS. However, your keyboard controller does, it passes it on to your OS. Your OS then maps the layout according to its preset key patterns and hotkeys/shortcuts.*
