Default Sound Card

So yeah, I reformatted my computer and blah blah blah, but now I seem to not have sound. So I guess my question is how do I determine the sound card I have and the drivers needed?

Check your computer manufacturer's website and make a search for your model in the support section. You should be able to find a list of the hardware you have there. You will also probably find a list of drivers, they may not be the latest drivers though. If you want the latest drivers for your soundcard, you should check your soundcard manufacturer's website.

If you have "on-board" sound, the drivers should be on a driver disk that came with the computer/motherboard. Or you can go to website of the computer or motherboard manufacturer and look for drivers. (If it's on-board sound, the connectors you use to plug the speakers, etc., in will be in the same area as the keyboard, mouse, USB, etc., connectors.)

If you have a separate sound card, just open up the computer, take the sound card out (if necessary), and have a look at what model number and manufacturer are marked on it.
