I bought Guild Wars not to long ago and the first time it loaded Ascalon with ease in about a hour (the first time I played it) Then I uninstalled it, now I reinstalled it because I want to play again, and Ascalon is taking forever to load, its been a whole night and its only got to 10% Is their something I can do to speed it up?

Theres a huge update going on, thats just it. Every update theres been since it came out (2005) as to download into your computer before you can actually play the game.

I had the same problem when i first tried to play Prophecies.

Normal if it's the first city you load and your internet connection isn't that fast. You could always use -image to prevent futur downloads like this from happening. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Command_line

Note using -image might take a while.

it also depends on your internet connection , you would be having REALLY hard problems trying to play gw if you have free dial up (Takes 4 hours to load a section)

But it is still a lot quicker than loading the data on a per area basis, so imho it is always better to use. The best bet is to create a new short-cut with the image switch and just use it each time a fresh update is rolled.
