I am curious Anet warns against using other software. Now I assume anything on Guru is safe to use? In general is there a good way to know? Just a random thought...

Thing is, after NF they announced they quit. They did for a long time, no skills were updated and it lacked a lot of other ones, like the EoTN ones.

They've added all new ones and even all PvE skills. So not that old

Anet cannot guarantee the authenticity of downloads.

Even if guru guarantees, someone might manage to hack the site to replace legit downloads with trojans. This type of thing has happened often.

The statement is just Anet's disclaimer that they are unable to ensure anything for applications they did not develop and host themselves.

Guru linked downloads are as safe as it gets, but even here you cannot expect 100% security.
