Default 8800 GT, Nvidia made or BFG?

Ok my Geforce 7600 just died on me, and as i have wanted a new card for a while, i am a little happy, however now i have narrowed my choice down to two diffrent cards. One is an actual Nvidia one, a 650 MHZ, while he other is a BFG model at 625 MHZ.

I can't decide which is better, as both are roughly the same price, and was wondering if i could have anyones opinions?

Any help is greatly appriciated!

Thanks a lot!

The BFG likely has a better warranty. At the end they are all the same card with a different sticker. Just get whichever has the the best warranty.

You could easily overlook from 625 to 650 if you really care about it.

Nvidia doesn't even actually sell video cards. So with the off-brand one it's hard to be sure who is really making the card. I'd avoid it if I were you.

Ah ok intresting. Thats pretty much made up my mind then, as they are both basicly the same, and have the same warranty.

Thanks a lot for your help!

What do you think of the 9600GT? 1GB Pci Card & it's in the same price range as the 8800GT's you were looking at.

Personally I can't wait for the 9800GX2 to be released here

8800gt > 9600gt.

BFG usually has life time warranty. No sure about that other card.

All cards are made by the same manufacturers. You are actually paying for the sticker, the box, and the warranty when you purchase from a company. As always, performance varies with individual cards.

As for your "mystery" card, I'm pretty sure its by Galaxy, the black card with two white stripes is default nVidia logo (half of their spiraled "eye")

... and all cards are based on nVidias reference design, with only minor changes. It matters very little what brand card you buy.

The 9600GT is a very good card, and cheap, but yeah, 8800GT is faster.

As I used to work tech support for BFG I'm biased...but to answer the question BFG has the best warranty on the market by far...something goes wrong with the card, call them and you get a new one...simple enough.

I would personally go with either eVGA (for their "Step-Up" program and warranty) or XFX (which allows you to mod your card and still keep your warranty)

I honestly have to echo the sentiments of everyone who's said that all you pay for is the box and the stickers with the big brand cards. As for the card, as long as you go for the 512MB version, it doesnt really matter. 25Mhz on the core isnt going to affect much, even in games like Crysis.

agreed with above, although having had a series of 8800's from different companies, i find that that xfx cards tend to run slightly better, but bfg cards have a nicer warranty

I have run BFG cards now for 4 years.

They have a no questions asked LIFETIME warranty. I run my cards as hard as possible.

The AGP 6600 GTOC on my second computer died recently and they upgraded me to a 7300. They must not make, or have, the 6600 any longer. I was quite surprised.

This is slightly off topic, but just to clarify, a lifetime warranty doesn't actually mean your lifetime. It's the lifetime of the product, which varies based on the product. That said, it's still very significant and very good.

Well my 6600GT isn't produced anymore and they replaced it with a 7300. That appears beyond the lifetime of the product.

...but I do agree. I think if I came to them after 10 years (for example) I may have problems.
