This seems to be the root of the problem. What were the circumstances when your speakers stopped working? What is this kX program, and why did you download it?

You basically need to identify your soundcard (or, more likely that it is onboard sound) and rollback or update the drivers. Whatever is running your sounds now is just not recognising the fact that you have a mic input.

If I recall correctly, kX are modified Creative drivers and aren't always very good.

The kX program is a sound driver i had to download since i lost all my discs for drivers and everything else basiclly since like i said i reformated. Does this mean i should go try to find a dif sound driver one that will hopefully recognize mic?

Again, try uninstalling the driver and in IE, go to creative.com and use their Software AutoUpdate to find your drivers.

All it found was sound blaster live and said i had most current version or w/e.

If that's the case, uninstall all Creative drivers and kX drivers through Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

Use Driver Cleaner Professional to remove your Creative (and kX if available) drivers only.

Use the UnknownDevices program I mentioned in a previous post to determine exactly what sound card you have, then visit the corresponding website to get the drivers. Creative's AutoUpdate does perfectly well for drivers, and Windows Update can also do nicely.

I used them to like clean/fix the drivers I had but i dont understand how it will help me get new drivers or tell me were to get them it didnt do anything noticeable.
