Default Connection Issues - 005 - for 2 hours now - HELP!

Hey guys,

I got disconnected about two hours ago when my mum picked up the phone, and usually I can just reconnect where I was or somewhere close, when the connection is reestablished.

This wasn't the case this time.

It will let me through the log in screen, to the character selection page, but as soon as I play a character it comes up with the following issue:

I tried to reconnect on my bros computer, but the same problem comes up. HIS account works fine though. <_<

I understand about the firewall issues, I checked and as usual GW is allowed, but this has never happened before. All the talk of ports confuses me to no end. I'm not exactly the quickest to pick things up like that. Hell, I don't even know where to find the port list. :P

If anyone wants to talk me through fixing the issue (if you think you know what's causing it) send me a message or reply here.

Thanks for your help!

If nothing else works for you, then your gw.dat file was corrupted.

Your choices are:
1. Uninstall and reinstall Guild Wars,

OR

2. Delete gw.dat and start Guild Wars. It will spend several hours downloading a minimal dat file so you can start GW.

If you were/are on dialup, as it sounds, I would recommend option #1 using your CD's. Either way it's going to take you ages to get an updated dat file.

Sorry for the bad news.

T.

Default Cnnection Problems

I also can't reconnect to GW - have been onto Tech Support and apparantly there is a problem with the Servers from Aust & NZ.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled GW to no avail.

I have been onto my ISP (Bigpond) and they say that the problem is with GW server-not this end.

Short end of it all I can't play until someone fixes this.

Is there anyone else from Austie or NZ with the same probs?

I'm from Oz and have been 005ing for two days now. Tried all the recommended fixes, but it's still not connecting. I can only assume the problem is on Anet's end.

Problem Solved.

I'm not on dialup, I have broadband, but I'm on a network which uses the same router, and my bro plays the game also.

The router didn't seem to know who to send the data to, so it blocked me.

To solve my problem: I reset the router (where all my network cables and computer plugs into) and reentered my password (usual reconnection stuff) this fixed.

I'm now back on GW.

It seems I'm not the only one who had the router issue. Having multiple games running on one network can apparently cause this problem every now and again.

I hope this works for you Neti!
