Unhappy Problems with nVIDIA 6150 LE

I just sent a "ticket" to PlayNC with similar information but would like to see
if I could possibly get some immediate help since PlayNC requests 1 to 2
business before I can expect any sort of reply - thanks in advance.

I've browsed the FAQ in numerous locations and couldn't find anything
in relation to my concern, but, if this is posted wrong, incorrect location
and/or incomplete - please let me know asap.

In a nut-shell: I would like to know what may have potentially caused
and/or a way to fix what has maybe happened to my GuildWars client.
A view at the screenshots could explain (scroll down to see).

I've been using this current computer/monitor since September 2007
and have not experienced any problems until this past month. I have
not altered, added or downloaded anything in that duration (besides a
few desktop wallpapers or a messenger program) that could interfere.

My specs:

AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ 2.10GHz
894mb RAM - Windows Vista Home Premiere 32-bit
nVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE

What I have done to fix or find out:

Un/reinstall the GuildWars client
Upgrade/install new nVIDIA Drivers
Multiple full-system virus/spyware scans
Removed CPU casing to allow cooling/cleaning
Completely removed the client for over a week

Other things to know:

When on, the screen flickers from perfectly normal quality graphics
(I usually run everything at medium) to the inverted, rendered view
in the screenshots on random occasions - otherwise stayiing in the
reverted form.

Also; everything else, including PhotoshopCS2, DreamWeaver, the
OpenCanavs 1.1 program and numerous other relatively graphics
intensive programs work perfectly fine. All of which take residence
on my external harddrive, if that may make a difference.

Screenshot(s):

If more screenshots are needed, I am happy to upload more.

Tis the matrix. You are looking into what Guild Wars really is.

>___>

My computer has an integrated NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE as well, pretty much the same as yours except mine is AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+, and I have 1 gig of ram, and use Windows XP. This has never happened to me though.. weird.

XD! Yea, everyone I've shown has been like "oooooo tripppy! :O" but I'm all "WTF FIX IT D:" lol. I saw your post about having one just as I finished this too (is it the compact tower?). I do have some extra 512 RAM sticks lying around, but the RAM slots are neatly squished under the disk-drive, and I'm afraid to futz with it to see if more RAM would help - doubt it, but it's worth a try.

That last picture is awesome.

At least you posted enough information to work with.. but the only thing I could think of at this point is that it's your graphics card, or Vista.

Unfortunately this type of problem is a bit beyond my experience, haven't dealt with these problems very much - usually new drivers would fix it anyway.

I'm honestly thinking it's the card.. but you mentioned you had no problems for a long time until now, so I don't know.

But for instance at one point my 6600LE was running good until A-Net added the shaders or whatever graphical enhancements they did to the game - which started sapping my FPS.

Anyhow good luck with fixing it, it must be really irritating.

^_^; I wanted to be all WHAM-BAM THERE so people didn't have to ask around too much. lol. I would like to note, that the first time I installed updated nVIDIA drivers...it actually "fixed" it for about a day or 2, then it came back and has been this way since.

Thanks either way tho. It's entirely playable really, but I need a lot of guidance and help via other players since I can't see my compass or skills even sometimes. I just can't stand to watch the flickering, it's very seizure-ific for too long.

Hopefully PlayNC comes up with something, I've been without the game for about a month and I really miss everyone.

I've had something like that happen before. It was a driver issue caused by the drivers pretty much crashing mid-game. Unfortunately i don't think the simple reboot fix that worked for me would work for you in this case. Even so though, i wouldn't be surprised if it was a driver issue somehow.

And with that, you are correct. I got advice from a good friend while chatting on MSN and he recommended going back atleast one set of drivers (I had Dec07, so I downloaded Nov07) and so far, everything is better. I'm doing the "-image" currently, so I can't give a full "RIGHTY-O! IT WORKS" but my guildhall loaded beautifully.

I'll come back in and give a heads up if it worked out. (:

My HP also came with the nVIDIA 6150 LE the 1st thing I did was buy a video card and install it. The nVIDIA 6150 LE is not a great Gaming Vid card, If I was you I would Look into getting a card you will be much happier.

I hope this helps....
