GW on 128MB nVidia Go 8400GS
I'm just about settled on getting a Dell XPS M1330 laptop which has an nVidia Go 8400GS/128MB.
I know this exceeds GW minimum reqs so I shouldn't have any probs but was wondering if anyone is actually using a laptop with this card and what your opinion is. The 128MB might limit me in other, newer games I realize and I might be open to moving up to the M1510 which can be ordered with a 256MB 8400GS, but I pretty much only play GW nowadays and I can play newer stuff on my desktop system. This laptop would be for playing GW and watching DVDs at work, primarily. TIA |

If I'm not mistaken, my laptop has that graphics card. I'll take a look later and see. All I can say is that it runs perfectly fine so if it is that card you should have no problems.

How much ram the chip has wont really limit it's performance, seeing as gw doesn't even really fill up 128mb from what i've seen(in normal circumstances). So 256mb wont really do much if it's only for gw.

8400 is fine for GW. New games will kill it though.
List of best laptop GFX cards 8800>7950GTX>7900>8700>7600>8600>8400 The 8400 is a low end card, which will be pretty obsolete in a year.

Ya, it's a shame something a little better than the 128/8400 isn't offered on the M1330, probably due to space and/or power considerations.
If I really want to get into serious laptop gaming at some point, I'd get a monster 17" with a nicer vid card but I'm trying to avoid lugging a behemoth like that around. |

I have a 17" and it isn't heavy at all. A couple kg at most.
