Yeah, but some people buy Macs to avoid the daily dosage of viruses and crashing that Windows would treat you to. Running Windows via Bootcamp will just give you problems that you may have bought a Mac to ignore.

I bought myself a Sony laptop out of high school and lemme tell you, I am in LOVE with it. I've not yet had a single problem with it AT ALL. Sony VAIO's are highly recommended by me if you want a laptop that will run Guild Wars no problem, but also do everything else you want it to do.

Im not a die hard Dell fan, but I've never experienced any problems with my Dell laptop. Dell seems to have the best prices for medium range gaming laptops. The Vostro can handle everything you need to get done in college. I've had to use mine for presentations and schoolwork and it works just fine. Also it can run most games except Crysis smoothly. My Vostro was $1200 not bad for laptop that can run most games. The only problem I can see is getting the business discount from Dell. However its not so bad it can be easily worked around, just tell your parents to use some billing paper from the company they work for to get the discount.

I love Sony VAIOs too. In fact, my desktop is a Sony VAIO, but i don't think i'll have the money to afford that laptop.

Its more brand name over parts.

If I were to do it again I would just buy a nice desktop computer and then a light smaller cheap laptop for the rare chance that I take it to classes.

I got a Vostro 1500 for 600 bucks last year. It should be cheaper this year.
The config I have is:
e5470
2GB ram
NVidia 8400GS
80GB Hdd
DVD-R
15" 1440X900 monitor

For limited budget, I would say Vostro is pretty good choice. Mine doesn't has any problem but only a little heavy. It's actually a black inspiron 1520 but cheaper.

I've had pretty good luck with Dells so far. I'm currently running an XPS M1710 gaming laptop with 7900GTX video card, and it runs GW in hi-def 1200p glory (1920x1200, 60fps, max settings).

My co-worker managed to pick up a 15" widescreen at www.delloutlet.com for 1k even. This unit was marked scratch/dent but looked completely new out of the box. It came with a 2.0 ghz Core2Duo and nvidia 8600M-GT video card with 256MB discrete memory.

The one problem with the Dell Outlet: You have to be fast and stay on top of what's moving through their queue, or you'll miss out on some really good configs. I was looking at the site last week and found an M1530 with 2.8ghz core2extreme, 200MB 7200 rpm HD, 8600M-GT video, and 3gigs RAM. Price tag was under $2k even. I considered it for a few minutes, then hit the web page refresh button -- someone had already grabbed it.
