Default Vista freezing

Ok, so randomly when I am playing guild wars my entire computer locks up, generally after several minutes of playing. I find this very strange because I have been playing guild wars for probably 3 months on this computer without a single problem, when all of a sudden it starts doing this.

My Specs are:

Geforce 8400 (sucks but should be able to run gw fine)
3gb Ram DDR2
quad core Q6600

I downloaded vista sp 1 just now and it still is freezing. I believe my drivers are also up to date as well, so I really don't know what is going on.

Now this has just started happening recently, and does not happen on any other games that I play, tf2 cod4 or counter strike.

Should I just reinstall or what?

Home premium, but seriously I have had no trouble until just 2 days ago, and I would think if it were a virus I would have the same experience in other games as well.

By the way I have sophos anti virus, which I find to be very light weight and effective.

mhm, maybe let the graffics down just a bit?
it might be your pc overheating?

well I wish you wouldn't double post, and to be frank how would turning down the graphics change anything if it has been running fine for about 2-3 months with no problems on the same graphics card?

I looked at another fansite and they said to possibly reinstall the game or update the sound drivers.

I'm running into the same issue running on Vista Ultimate 64.

My machine usually locks up after playing for more than an hour. I have logged my temp readings and they are no different than when playing Obilivion, I do not have this lock up problem with Oblivion.

I generally hit the reboot button and log back in as quickly as I can. Usually reconnects me to my last session. Funny enough this lock up helped me beat the Arborstone mission. When I reconnected to the session it loaded me up in Altrumm Ruins with out actually completing the mission. (Hope ANET doesn't set me back, I've made it up to Raisu Palace now)

Athlon 64x2 4400
4 GB G.Skill DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Radeon HD 3850
Gigabyte MA790X-DS4

Edit:
My Video Drivers are up tp date as of last week
GPU temp hovers around 44C with an after market cooler
CPU runs idle at 14C, don't have temp for in game
Power supply is 650 watts

I can pretty much guaranty the problem is not with temp, drivers, or power supply. I can run much more graphically intense games than GW with no problem.

I am in the same boat as you, I again just checked to see if I have the latest drivers for my video card and sound card, vista updates hot fixes ect. I found that I was totally up to date, and so now I just uninstalled guild wars and am now downloading it again from the site to see if it could have corrupted or something of the sort.

Alright well I reinstalled it and it seems to have worked, I will keep you guys updated if otherwise.
