Default Game Crashes/Mouse Pointer Erratic

My game's been having a couple problems since about a week ago. It doesn't do this with any other application (or game for that matter, like WoW), just with Guild Wars.

I log into the game and when I move my mouse pointer, the pointer sort of flashes and has a small box that you can see. It's really hard for me to select another player or NPC because the mouse pointer disappears when I try to put it over that character model.

If I go into the game (whether it be a mission or just a quest), my game will lock up. The screen goes black and I have to force quit in Task Manager. I cleaned out the system tonight (got rid of a ton of dust) and restarted the game. It does the same thing. All of my drivers are up to date.

What could be the issue?

Weird, what video card do you have?

I've had this problem with some cards/and their drivers too. Just not the freezing part.

I'm running a nVidia 8600 GTS. The driver's totally up to date too. I'm wondering if one of the most recent updates that GW did just doesn't like the current card drivers.

Ah, that card is nice so you shouldn't have any problems at all with it.. perhaps it could be a driver issue maybe, just from what I've seen driver issues usually cause more problems than just on one game.

Maybe try rolling your video card drivers back to an older date?

I can give that a shot. I'm just concerned because this is the only game that it happens to. All my other games/applications are unaffected.

Ok totally weird thing after I posted this:

I restarted the game and went into windowed mode. The erratic mouse action is gone if I put it into windowed mode and resize it. My system supports a max 1280 x 1024 resolution. I'm going to run the game for a bit with the window resized and see if it crashes. If it doesn't crash, I'll post back here.

Second edit:

I've been running the game for a bit now with the graphics turned to the max and the game being in windowed mode (resized). It's working just fine. Thanks for the help
