Of course it gets hot.
Anything with the word marketing title "Silent" is bound to run hot.

The 8600 is a good midrange card. I would get one with a better cooler, tho.

Hmm, my range for a video card is round €100,- euro's, I got now a 6800LE and I thought a 8600GT is a pretty good improvement; about the cooling, I have putten a electric fan (not a small one, but a standard size! Its nearly as big as my pc xD) and I put that thing on, think that would be good? :P

And oh, how can I know if my computer is compitable with the card? I thought it was just plug-and play like :P

I can see why this can be confusing.

Not all 8600GT's have passive cooling. Some of the other other ones already have a heatsink and fan on the PCB itself.

The specific model you listed, however, does not. It uses passive cooling, which means it uses aluminum/copper plates to cool the GPU and VRAM instead of a fan.

You're better off buying one that does have a fan, if you're worried about overheating.

EDIT: Newer graphics card require PCI-e 2.0. If you want to run the 8600GT you need one free full sized PCI-e 1.0+ slot. This board has two PCI-e 16x slots, top one is blue, bottom one is black. The very small shrimpy one is a PCI-e 1x, will not work. The mid sized white one is PCI.

Hmm, I'm not sure; but I think I have a white one.. is that good then?
(same size of the picture)
And, about the fan; am I better off with buying a lesser one WITH a fan or this?

EDIT: Is this one better?

You're gonna have to look in a different direction for video cards if you only have that white PCI slot.

Ill post video's later, I got 3 slots or something, exactly the size and details as the stuff posted here, also my current video card is in a black slot, so I think that is a PCI 1.0?

You can't tell the bus type just by color, you need more detail. What card do you currently use?

According to previous posts their card is a 6800LE. Which, IIRC, was made for both agp and pci-e. So we may not be able to judge which slot solely on that.

Oke, as promised these are the photo's of my computer, we start off with something funny; my computer with the gigantic fan:

now, when you have climbed back on your stair of laughing,
here is a picture with a better detail on the whole motherboard: (and the PCI's)

http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/2842/dsc0176ty3.jpg

Dust dust dust on my fan (motherboard)!

Closer look on my video card:

any tips how I can clean the fan precisely without spending any money on it?

Well, the picture finally loaded for me. Lately, my GW has been doing that also, but not predictably and very seldom. All I do is minimize, at it goes away. But, my GPU's are not overheating nor damaged. So... yeh, it looks like your graphics chip has been damaged by either a core overvolt or heat pocket buildup.

Yes oke, but I was planning to buy a new card anyway; but my question was now; is my motherboard compitable with the 8000 series of Nvidea?

From the looks of those pics you have an AGP slot. Meaning that while your replacement options wont be as slim as with normal PCI, they'll still not be too huge. And no, You wont be able to get a geforce 8 series card. As nvidia hasn't, and wont, make agp versions of that.

ATI X1950GT, X1950PRO or NVIDIA 6800GT, 7900GS

They might be hard to find/discontinued, but they're the best of the AGP. I recommend the 7900GS.

Yaih, I got a Asus EN7900GS Top! But now; I have a lill problem, I readed the manual and it says I need to uninstall my current VGA Driver, but how and where do I do that?

Thanks!

*EDIT; I found a program to do it; but now; which one should I uninstall?
I know already I have got a Nvidea videocard, so I guess I have to de-install the Nvidea one,
but there are two of them; NVIDEA Display and NVIDEA Chipset (I think it is the Display one, but I wont
take any risks..)

You'd want the one named "display", in this case.

Personally i wish i had two options like that. Cause when i have to uninstall video drivers it takes my chipset with it. annoying..

« Uninstall "Nvidia Display"
« Reboot
« Take out old video card
« Insert new video card
« Download latest drivers and install
« Reboot

Note: Always use the latest drivers, don't use the ones that come with the card, they're already outdated.
