Default Need new computer.

Hey, my computer has recently died and I'm stuck with my laptop, which is incapable of playing Guild Wars. Dead completely. So I gave it away.

My question is what sites, and / or places can I get a computer capable of playing games, Guild Wars at maximum spec more precisely, for less than £100?
I only need a processor, as I have a keyboard, mouse and monitor from the old computer.

Thanks.

I doubt it. £100 is abit sucky. Unless you want to buy 5 year old parts. Atleast £300 for an acceptable Processor, Video Card and Motherboard. You could then strip everything else out of your old computer and use the same case.

Did a zero fall off? A good PC for less than £1000 is easy. A Pc of any kind for less than £100 is just, ...no.

You can get a CPU for under 100quid.

c2d E8200 @ 2.6GHz

But a whole tower..no chance. You need at least £300 to pick up a cheap one form a local supermarket. Even then it has no room for upgrades.

Well my last computer, I think it was the motherboard itself that was screwie.
Hence why I've kept several of the parts of the computer.

It was either the video card or the motherboard, since the hard drive works fine. I have another anyway.

My old computer, I just bought a cheap case for roughly £40, and the motherboard for around £80, the rest salvaged off my other computer, which also wouldn't work with the things I upgraded it with.

The store I'm talking about is Maplins by the way.

I believe the CPU = motherboard?

And I will say this: The computer that is now a bad memory DID infact last for around a year. Not really long I must say, but I will have gained money via birthdays and...stuff than I forked out for the computer.

At the moment I have around £300, which I'm hoping to save, but what about Guild Wars at minimum step...if there really is a difference?

CPU = processor

Dell do some cheapish PC's. Still need another 300quid for anthing with a decent CPU and GFX card though.

You can build a GW capable PC for ~500

PCSpecialist's cheapest system - http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/index....m&&select=amd1

You'll need to knock the OS up to Vista Home Premium - don't touch the basic. Or you could knock it down to XP.

That's around £350. Move away from the integrated graphics for a few quid more.

You could buy all the components from Maplins and self-build, but I'd only do that if you can't order via the internet. Maplins is ok for odds and ends but speccing a whole system from them would be tricky.

Well my mum just gave me her...unresponsive computer. Plug it in and nothing happens, does anyone know what causes this?

I'm pointing at a fault in the bit with the mains to processor, and yes, I'm clueless when it comes to technology.

And Jay, what about the err..."Tower"? I'm guessing it'll be roughly...£50?

Not really.

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143964#

£13.99 with a Power Supply.

I have all the items i listed in a basket and it gives a price of £132.35

That is as really as budget as you can get to run guild wars. Although the graphics card is almost outta stock because of its low price.

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/128949 that should do as a replacement graphics card.

If you can afford a budget of about £150 then you should be able to get a better CPU.

Heh, need a tad more info than that!

If absolutely nothing happens - no whirring, no lights, no bleeping etc., try the fuse in the plug first (or try a different power lead - they're all the same (try the one off your kettle ))

If still nothing, the PSU has probably gone south. It depends on the age and quality of that old PC whether there's any point continuing from there.
