Default server distance causing Lag...

I have been playing gw for about 2 years. I have a 4mbs ADSL connection but i am still forced to stick to Asia server while in outposts i have a 350ms ping and when i leave the outpost the ping increases to 450-700ms(near impossible to monk, interrupt etc.) Now the reason for this is primarily a distance issue as i am currently based in Southern Hemisphere (South Africa) and when i ping any other servers i get anywhere between 330ms to 500ms. Is there any hope of Anet introducing servers for Southern Hemisphere folk (currently is there servers in Southern Hemisphere?) i HATE being insulted by others just because of my ping hindrance.

lol...am i the only one suffering from lag because of this? if there are many others the numbers are perhaps significant enough to introduce servers.

There are not that many people on the southern hemisphere that play GW, and the ones that do usually play more straightforward roles, or get a quicker connection =/

I dont expect a 'quicker connection' to resolve this problem without it costing me a fortune to do so...or maybe i am not understanding what you mean by 'quicker'? which new connectivity option eliminates the distance problem that introduced all the lag? btw why sell the game in the southern hemisphere in the 1st place? kinda like putting the servers on the moon and selling the game on earth...lolz

I have the same problem ever since they made the European/American/Asian districts global and I live in Europe. My ping is between 300-700ms because they connect to asian servers too. I can still play normal but it was smoother before with my low ping. Nothing any of us can do about it though.

I'm in SA too and been playing for two years or so.Kinda rare for my ping to go under 300 but tbh it's not all that bad.Completely playable.

Tho if Anet does decide to set up a server a bit closer I wont complain

Why are you playing on the Asian servers?Go to Europe and your ping will drop a bit

I feel your pain buddy.

Who is your ISP if I may ask?
I'm with Telkom, only have a 384 dsl line, and average 400-600ms on the euro servers... maybe try there again? Instead of the asian servers.

So u havin a 4mb dsl line & experiencing higher ping than me, is scary! lol I live in joburg btw.

Yeah it sux that we never have a green dot, ping is always yellow or orange

i live in Joburg too and i am with Telkom as well. Do you think the problem is with them the ISP? if so i will try moving over to another ISP and trying an unshaped connection as i have heard it does make somewhat of a difference but its going to cost much more its like filling up the tank at the petrol station just make sure you close your eyes and dont look at the cost

Not too sure that the ISP is the problem since I'm on Iburst and my ping is pretty much the same so...

Oh and I'm in Pretoria if that has any chance of affecting it tho i doubt it
