Yup, you need to buy PC3200, which is also DDR RAM, as I thought your computer would use. That is the ram you will specify if you went to buy it.

Also, I have heard of Norton blocking Guild Wars, that is exactly what I thought it was, Tarun is the expert here on that stuff, so if he pops by he can tell you how to work around it perhaps, even though anyone here would most likely recommend against Norton.

Try turning off Norton while you start up Guild Wars, perhaps this will unblock it. There was someone else around here with the same issue and I think he had to keep turning Norton off in order to play Guild Wars.

Try a later driver for the 82845G, maybe? Even the most up-to-date is from 2005 :/

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/down...ems&lang= eng

So old, MS don't even support it any more.

My original comp had a geforce2 mx400, 256 ram, and a 512 kbps internet speed. It was real laggy, plus i didn't know about the -image command so load times were horrific. now i'm on a 3meg internet, 2 gigs ram, geforce 6150 laptop card, and it runs great

Bah.

* Three PCI
* No AGP slot

Download drivers - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/T8Cl...033 &lang=eng

Read how to install drivers - http://downloadmirror.intel.com/9033...adme_2k_xp.txt

And, if you haven't already, go to http://www.crucial.com and use the scanner to see if there's still memory available for that rig.

Actually, I can tell you now.

2 x 184-pin DDR DIMM sockets support unbuffered non-ECC 2 GB 333/266 MHz DDR SDRAM memory modules

Just 1GB of that (2x512) will set you back between $80 and $100 because it's old.

Norton is a pretty good program. The problem most people have with Norton is that it disables too much and most people don't know how to enable the stuff they don't want disabled. Also there's a subsription which is BS.

Or you can just forward the correct ports in Norton. I can't see the OP's pictures from work (blocked), but here's a guide for Norton 2007 (it's almost the same for every version of Norton so it doesn't matter that much anyhow):

http://www.portforward.com/english/r...07/AllowIn.htm

The ports you need to unblock are 80 & 6112 TCP for Guild Wars.

In case some people haven't noticed, the OP's computer is an older Celeron with only 512megs of DDR RAM. Some of the RAM is being used by the on-board graphics.
I didn't suggest he needed a graphics card simply because it was on-board graphics, but because it was old crappy on-board graphics. Just about any 8x AGP card would be better.

So, I would recommend that the OP get at least another stick of 512meg DDR400 RAM and an actual graphics card. Since we don't know if the computer/mobo has a graphics card slot and/or what type it is, it's hard to say what sort of graphics card to get. My guess would be that, if it has a slot, it's AGP 8x judging by the general age of things.
So, first, determine what type of graphics card you could use (AGP or PCI) and then hunt around local computer shops or buy/sell papers/sites and see what you can come up with - new or used.

Buying a newer PC on a decent budget guarantees you will be able to run Windows7, because Windows7 has the same if not slightly LESS of a requirement compared to Vista. Hope that helps.
