Default Which graphics card is better?

I am upgrading my computer to play GW better.
I am on a tight budget, and the 8600GT seems to be a good budget card.

Which one is better?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130085

Vs.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130292

Which one is better?

8600 GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 Or 8600 GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR2.

When is the best time to buy from Newegg? Should I buy my graphics card ASAP? Or do you think it will go down more in price soon.... I heard the next series is coming out soon.

neither is really good, but the gddr3 model is better.

i think the prices for these cards will probably remain stable for a while. they currently have no real competition (being that they are too old and slow to compete with the newer offerings).

if you want, you can save up a bit more and get a 9600GT or 9600GSO. the prices for them will be dropping real soon, since the HD4850 and the now $200 9800GTX made them obsolete in one fell swoop.

I have an 8600GT GDDR3 256mb and it works alright, gets 60 fps in GW.

GDDR3 version > GDDR2, buy the 256mb GDDR3.

Noob question: Is 60 fps good-or what is good? I only get in the 30-40's yet I run the game fine on my ATI Radeon X300 and it's a old and not so good card.

60fps is the maximum, unless you're silly and run with v-sync turned off. Anything above 30 is ok.

If it's an LCD monitor you probably won't need 60 fps because of screen ripping or delay or w/e it's called that mashes two screens together in one frame.

That is why Vertical Sync exists, to stop texture ripping. It is recommended to not play with this option turned off, but it does cap your FPS at 60 as mentioned above (and you don't need more than 60).

But yes, 60 FPS is really good, my 8600GT can handle a lot thrown at it, but it can't handle every game at max settings obviously, it is a budget card and is a tad bit aged yes, but it is still a completely awesome card and the price/performance seems just right.

Depends on how high the refresh rate of your monitor goes of course. My LCD goes to 75 and most CRTs go to 85.

And indeed, there is no reason whatsoever to turn V-Sync off.

Heh, I should have said "60fps is usually the maximum."

I've had a 19" and two 22" LCDs and all of them have been 60fps at default resolution. Plenty of 85Hz CRTs, though
