Default Vid Card Problems?

So randomly when im playing my fps drops down to 2-3 for about 5 seconds. Also when playing other games my fps will dorp dramitacally all the sudden. This just recently started happening and already tried updating my drivers.
Was wondering if this has anything to do with my video card, so i can get a similar one for like $10 after rebate :P.

Also sometimes the guru page will go all white backround with blue text instead of the tan backround with red text.

I figured out the problem! So it happends when ever someone logs onto xfire. I think i fixed it now though. Thanks for all the help.

Might be dying, have you dusted it off lately?

Have you checked the temperatures on it while playing?

Does sound like overheating a lot, check those temperatures.

Also, Guru with in white/blue is Guru's fault, it's a bug that happens every now and then.

Also are you using any anti virus or any other programs running in the background? I had a similar issue with APC vista drivers, it would eat up cpu resources occasionally, which reduced my fps considerably. Try closing/diasbling everything you can and see if it dissappears. If it has restart/re-enable one at a time to see what causes it.

I have an anti virus one running but this has just been happening recently. I had no problem with it in the past.

I would echo fusa on system utilization being my first guess. Do you have anything that auto-runs at set times? Most people set anti virus to do that and that time is sometimes reset during updates/upgrades.
Try opening your task manager(Ctrl+Alt+delete)and when you see it running slow Alt+tab to your task manager and take a look. You may find a program somehow using a large chunk of your processing power or memory.
This is also a symptom of a compromised OS, that means malware/adware/spyware/virii. Any and all of those can at random times "steal" your PC's resources.
Have you changed anything lately? Added/removed hardware or software? While it is possibly a hardware error, I wouldn't jump to that conclusion first.
If you don't know enough about a PC though you should really ask a more tech savvy friend or take it in to someone. First do what you can, but understand your limitations is what I'm saying.
