That is on my second computer, that icon has been making me annoyed for so long - but this computer also has XP (which I don't use much) and I want to remove it from there too, I found that registry edit way.. but I was kind of trying to avoid messing with it.

Ahh, you should have seen my old desktop from XP. I had it totally Vista modded. You should be able to dig up a pic of it somewhere.

Now I use dreamscene, so my desktop background is animated. Here is a picture. Click the thumbnail, as the rez is too high for forums.

The background expands like a cloud of gas after a supernova, and then contracts and repeats. It is pretty cool.

I used Dreamscene while playing Guild Wars, don't do that. Lol.

At least not on mine.. probably driver related, but it messed up the whole system and I had to restart, so I figured that it wasn't worth it.

My Vista looks very similar to my XP:

Just not the same theme, I want XP to look clean like that though.. I guess for now I am going to disable Icons, and in a bit I might try out some of these editing suggestions.

Um, was my way totally wrong, then? I'm sure I've deleted the trash can that way many times

P.S. - Rajah - you got a link to that Dreamscene?

P.P.S. - I just remembered I always had TweakUI installed - that's the bugger to do it with. http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...ertoySetup.exe

I don't know about you being wrong or right, I checked on XP for that menu you posted but I couldn't find it anywhere, I have it under control on Vista though, I wish XP was more user friendly.

Regards to Dreamscene, I think it might be Vista Ultimate users only, but there might be third party apps to download to get it to run on other machines though, I'm almost positive there will be.

It is, and I have it. That particular Dreamscene is what interests me - got bored with the waterfalls and raindrops

Ohh.. right, now I see.

Hmm that makes me wonder if there is a place where people make Dreamscenes, Microsoft doesn't release them often enough.

No more thread derailed. Edited posts to show that, and split the thread. Much better. *flexes mod muscles*

Oh, as for that dreamscene. Here it is:

Go there, and see the DreamMaker software.

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...155001&page=21 there is this too, it is the official thread for posting desktops in - I was just using the ones I posted as examples, but I officially posted them in this thread too.

Hmm, well, if you have at least 1 gig of RAM then some of these apps shouldn't choke you that much, a lot of them don't use very much resources, but I do think that Windows Blinds would use a bit more.

You can probably use Object Dock and be fine.

This was a breakoff from the derailment of the other thread. I split the posts into two threads. May have not been needed, but I am still testing mod powers out. Been a while since I used controls in VB.

Ahh I see, np Rahja, probably better to keep other threads cleaned in some cases.

To Dilan, 2 gigs is plenty enough, I don't know if these apps would put that much of an FPS hit on Guild Wars since you have the RAM to back up the extra memory that they use. I could imagine dreamscene possibly putting an FPS hit on, since it is animated, other than that, you should be fine.

Also, not all of these programs are free, but a lot of them are, for example, Windows Blinds isn't free, but it is relatively worth paying for as it is a nice program. You can head on over to www.stardock.com for some awesome mods, most of them come free / with the option to pay, but their free versions work awesome and don't have much limited functionalities.

EDIT: Btw everytime I get on Vent no one is on Rahja. :P

Annoying - I use Vista Ultimate's Dreamscene, but that uses plain old avi or mpg files, not these Stardock .dream whoojamaflips.

Understand the thread prune, Raj - but my link to teakUI got a bit lost in here - now Brianna thinks someone else is the awesome hero that I am

Also: vent is always empty when I look in too :/

Well, I use dream and a super modded areo theme(I bopught the package from stardock or wincustomize for like 40.00 or what ever it is) while playing GW,talking on vent,ts,browsing and using Itunes. NO problems. I am almost positive that the dream issue was directly related to bios version. I moved to P04 and no more problems.
