Default Code=058,help pls :(

Hello all,I have a problem and your help would be much appreciated!

Guild Wars was unable to connect to any login servers.
This is very likely caused by an Internet routing issue.

If the problem persists, please visit Guild Wars support website.

That's what I get for about 8 hours now. I played GW yesterday for whole day, exited game and after about 2 hours couldn't login anymore. Can't login now aswell.
I checked wiki and it says that is an issue between computer ad server (firewall, modem, etc.) and to try using "traceroute". Problem with that is that I don't know what IP/ISP whatever,to put it.
Also,I didn't install anything new or even changed settings in Windows (XP).
Wiki also says to try and re-install the game,I'll try and do it if everything else fails.

Since I don't know much about this stuff,I'm scared I got hacked,so please help ^^
Thanks a lot in advance!

Think it's the connect error had it happen ages ago with an older firewall

Just reinstalling the gw.dat file seemed to fix it

You didn't get hacked, don't worry.

This is more about a user-side issue, such as your router or firewall blocking something. Unless I was uninformed of more people having this issue - I do know A-Net has been doing network maintenance.

What's your setup, do you have a Router? What AV+Firewall are you using?

Yes,I have router (think it's a modem at same time) wich connects 2 computers and "modem" cable or however it's called from phone to computer ^^.
Also using NOD32 and XP's Firewall

This does not sound like a "you got hacked problem". It does sound like a routing issue. I would. power down your computer, then power down your router/modem. leave it all off for 30 seconds or more. then power up the router then the computer.

Are you using wireless?
I sometimes need to unplug my usb antena and then put it into a different usb slot.

also do you have the correct ports open on your firewall(s)?

I heard NOD32 was notorious for blocking Guild Wars, am I wrong? If that would be the case - someone else will have to tell you how to get around that.

Agreed with zamial, try his suggestions, that is what I do when I get connection problems/lag.

I powered off computer and modem, didn't help.
Also tried running without NOD32,didn't do good.
I'm not using wireless and about ports open I guess they're correct cos I was connected to GW for about 14 hours and in next 1-2 hours of not playing it I didn't change anything, atleast not intentionally. :O
I will try re-installing client, not sure what else to do do....
Oh,could anyone please tell me IP or whatever I should put in "traceroute" cmd please?

I use Nod32 and had this problem. This link cured it:
http://www.plaync.com/us/support/doc_5610.html?prod=48
Also if you are using Window Firewall, exclude ports 80 and 6112
I also noted that if you do not see the GW announcements at the log in screen, then you are having connection on your end.

Running two firewalls at the same time is ill-advised. I've you have a Nod32 firewall, disable the Windows XP's Firewall. I still recommend opening ports 80 and 6112 on your Nod32 firewall, otherwise you may run into more problems at a later time.

Hi Samir,

As you are using the NOD32 antivirus program, please check your NOD32 settings and alter the IMON settings for port 80 to allow Guild Wars to use this port. You may need to turn off IMON filtering on this port.

In order to do so please follow the instructions:
- Open the NOD32 program
- Click on IMON -> Setup -> General
- In the column ""Exceptions"", click on ""Modify""
- Choose gw.exe and click OK

If that does not help, Please disable all startup items to make sure that no background programs or processes are causing this problem. To do this, click on the Start button, select Run, type MSCONFIG and click OK. This should open the System Configuration Utility. On the General tab switch to Selective Startup and un-check the box for Load Startup Items. Then click on the Services tab and select Hide All Microsoft Services, then click on Disable All. Once that is done, clicking either OK or Apply should prompt you to restart your computer, which you should do before attempting to play the game again. Do not start any other programs and then try the game again. Please let us know if this helps.

Failing that, I would suggest you try completely uninstalling all of the NOD32 and ZoneAlarm software as sometimes they make changes to the registry that even disabling will not solve.

If this works then you need to reinstall it and contact support for that application to find out what we are missing in the configuration of it.

Thank you.
