do you mean slow as in server latency or graphical lag?

if you have the money buy a new graphics card, the better you have the better the performance, alternatively, if it is lag, as tamuril discribed, check that dot and if the ping is really high all the time (red) than its your internet connection (most likely) and you probably want to upgrade to high speed/dsl.

a cheap way to fix performance is to just lower the graphics by pushing f11 in game and going to display.

you might want to tell us however which gpu you have. click "start" > Run and then enter dxdiag. after it loads go to display and it will say what you have.

Ill describe my broblem better

When I log into my account and ge and select my character and press play,th red loading bar comes up on the loading screen and It takes 5 minutes to load.Then it gos to the game were nothing is moving and I have to wait literally ten minutes for my character to appear and for the music to start and for the sky to move and the trees.Then when I start to run the game slows down and stops ,after like 40 seconds the game is playable so I go to move my character and it moves but the game is still very slow and stops at points. It is really giving me a hard time playing tha game. Plus I dont think I have a graphics card or video card,or do all computers come with one?

Yes, all computers come with a graphics card. There are two kinds, either integrated or non-integrated.

Can you post the model number of your PC? If you can, we can look up the specs and go from there.

Sounds like you might want to try the -image and pre load.

Run: "C://Program Files/Guild Wars/GW.EXE" -image

Are you using a dial-up connection?

Your hardware is pretty limited, but it should run it a little bit faster than that.

The dot indicates the relative speed of your connection. Green is good, yellow/orange is fair, and red is bad. Is there a lightning bolt in the dot?

I have highspeed internet and there was a lightning bolt in the red dot at on point but then the dot went green. How can I make it stay green?

Also that.

Well, there's not really much you can do to make it stay green. I mean, unless you're running a torrent in the background or something that will eat up bandwidth on your internet connection, it shouldn't be that.

Are you playing on a wireless connection or a wired connection?

you're machine is simply too outdated to play this game properly. the 1 to 5 FPS you're getting sounds about right for a SiS UniChrome integrated graphics. essentially, the game will never be playable for you, unless you get a new computer. you unfortunately don't have an AGP or PCI-E slot for video card upgrade either, so you can't go that route.

his specs:

* AMD Sempron 3100+ Processor
* 512MB PC2700 DDR Memory
* 160GB 7200rpm ATA Hard Drive
* 16x DVD+/-RW Burner
* AC'97 Audio
* S3 UniChrome Integrated Graphics with 64MB Shared Memory
* 10/100 Ethernet
* Eight USB 2.0 Ports and 9-in-1 Media Card Reader
* Windows XP Home, Norton AV, PowerDVD, CD-MakerGold

depends on the type of games you play, and what you classify as "good".

as a reference, my new self-built PC for gaming (and other stuff) costed me $1400 CDN. it can play just about any game available at 1680x1050 resolution and maximum quality settings. if i turn off vertical sync, GW runs at 200FPS at maximum settings with AAx4 AFx8. other than repairs, i don't need to spend another cent on this thing for the next two years. a similar specced pre-built PC will set me back ~$2500.

you can probably cut a few corners and make a decent gaming PC for as low as $900 US. if budget is really a concern, you can make a GW-capable PC for around $400.

What ISP are you using? You said highspeed, but is that cable, dsl, satellite? Your computer is definitely outdated, especially the graphics card. That will affect the fps, but shouldn't be causing the high ping. If you're on satellite, be glad you can connect, else if its cable or dsl, you have other problems. Could be wiring, or ISP has problems or a connection between your ISP and GW servers.

Also if you have a free PCI slot you CAN play GW at low settings. My server runs it fine with an old ATI PCI video card at 1280x768 resolution.
