I was wondering if anyone might know what my problem is. The two games I play, Guild Wars and Call of Duty 4 have been making me frustrated because they are freezing my computer a few times per 10 minute period. Most of the time it's just a screen freeze, because I can still hear music playing normally in the background - but other times, less frequently, my entire system just crashes. COD4 is unplayable for me right now - 10 FPS and more frequent freezing.

It never used to do this, I could play both games with 0 problems.

i have updated drivers(video, sound, directx)

Your GPU is most likely overheating if it shows this kind of behavior. It basically stops working when it gets too hot to prevent damage, after it's cooled a bit it will resume. It repeats this course of action as long as you keep playing the game or the system eventually crashes. You either stop playing the game for 15-30 minutes or improve the cooling to your GPU.
