Default Targeting Issues

Hello.

I have been having targeting issues with GW.

I will be running along doing quests, farming - whatever - and suddenly I cannot pick up my loot. I cannot click on it, I cannot stand next to it with it targeted and hit my space bar and pick it up.

I also do not auto attack. When I call out targets I get a "I am targeting XXX".

I have not noticed anything happening that would trigger this.

When I have this issue, I go to hit the corresponding number for the spell (I usually mouse click as I am a leftie) and it will bring up the chat functions. Though after a bit - sometimes after another kill or two, it clears up and I can go pick up my other loot.

Relogging does not always fix it - besides, in the middle of cleaning out a zone, who wants to relog? Neither does zoning into a town. I have the issue with NPCs and the storage vault as well.

I do have a wireless keyboard and mouse. The signal strength is good - the batteries are good. My husband also runs with a wireless keyboard and mouse and he does not have this issue.

Any thoughts?

If you're targetting rather than attacking, that implies you're holding Ctrl and Shift as well as Space.

Ctrl+Space = "I am attacking..."

Ctrl+Shift+Space = "I am targetting..."

Maybe either your left-shift is stuck down or you've mangled your key config within GW itself (F11, controls).

Possibly you're using a mouse with programmable buttons to do this, or something like a G15? If so, check the configs in those.

Any odd problems in other programs, or is it purely GW? Have you tried using hubby's keyboard with your PC and seeing if the problem persists?

Just initial thoughts here...

I am not holding down any other keys.

I will click on a mob to start attacking. I stand there. I hit my space bar. I stand there.

I didn't mess too much with the key configure. All of the targeting / next mob buttons are the same, iirc. (I started this game a launch and have not changed my configures since then.)

My mouse is just a mouse (without a tail ). It has just the simple right / left buttons with a wheel. As I said, I am left handed and finding a mouse that is not shaped for a right handed person is a hard thing to do, so my mice tend to be bland.

I have no other problems with other programs. I have not tried my husbands keyboard. Good thought there.

I am usually by myself running around or with my husband, so I don't chat much to use my shift key. My husband also did think that maybe my shift was getting stuck some how, but I don't know how if I don't use it much.

Thanks for the thoughts. I will try my husbands keyboard and see what happens from there.
