I am alive, but my entire T3 infrastructure was trashed along with many other things from the lightning strike the other night (Friday night around 9PM) The Outercom engineers are ripping apart my place, and I am staying with an old friend in Chicago (going back up tomorrow morning). Needless to say, it won't be until Monday to Wednesday that I am back up and running with the replacements I have to do. Depends also on things in Chicago and how long I stay with said friend.

Please report offending posts so Billard or Kamatsu can take care of them (or Savio, he is a post assassin)

Also guys, and this goes especially for my Technician group. Don't post about how to bypass the ads on Guru. They supply money to Inde to run the site, and we shouldn't discuss how to block them please. Thanks.

Also, my Technician group. You should have user rights enabling you to take my place for a short while as mods. Please organize together and hold down the fort. To the rest of you, seek them out for help if you need it. There are also some very helpful members. PM a Technician about posts being in the wrong place, etc, or a bad post if you want.

Anyways, hope to see everyone next week sometime provided they can repair my internet systems (to the cost of over 40,000 dollars... not my money though, so whatever, lol) My 40" Samsung got owned... NOT HAPPY! @#*%&@#(%&*@(#$&@#!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!! So did my ethernet ports on my PC and workstation. nVidia is replacing my workstation, but I have to repair my ethernet ports, which hopefully I can do in the Purdue engineering labs. If not, replacement board from eVGA I guess.

I will do stuff from my workstation provided it is up and running by then. I can also pull out my work laptop and create a new partition for personal use I guess. Whatever the case may be, I will be back next week at some point. Cheers everyone, and have a happy 4th of July to my US friends!

Sorry about all your stuff getting damaged - it must have been a bad lighting storm for it to damage stuff despite circuit protection and stuff. Don't worry about your Technicians, they have been doing a great job helping people and censoring posts.

Well, in regards to that I had no play in it, and I won't edit anyones post unless it is something that very obviously needs to be taken out - and that doesn't happen often here.

I think he is joking a bit with you Shells.

It wasn't a power surge. The lightning actually traveled into the building through some external metal source, and entered the electrical system directly. Think of it as the atomic bomb of a surge. It melted the cabling in the walls, and fused the individual copper cabling in my ethernet cables into one strand. So screwed....

That is really a freak accident, so I guess they are literally ripping your house a part to replace all of that, yikes. Lucky it didn't start a fire inside the walls.

Yes, it does indeed suck. That is why I am staying with my friend Hill in Chicago while my apartment gets ripped to shreds.

That, and shopping for a new TV when I get back.

This type of thing typically doesn't cause fires because it just is so much electricity.

Fril, you did lookup the formula I posted right? It involves quantum mechanics. I certainly hope it didn't have an effect, as that would mean the quantum systems of my electrical system were collapsing on themselves creating more chaotic systems, ripping holes in time and space. That could pose a bigger issue me thinks....

Come on Rahja, you must know about the "Butterfly effect", which in correct scientific terms would be a chain of events in the "Theory of Everything" (correct term is unified theory?). Did you believe you could make fun of quarks' way of life without any consequences?

Nope, the equation in my sig has to deal with quantum mechanics and field theory, about ever shrinking and diminishing returns on quantum energy.
