Default Graphics error [Help appreciated]

Hello,

First of all i would like to thank you for spending your valuable time reading this, it is really appreciated whether or not my problem be solved.

Recently, I switched from a T43 IBM laptop to a T61. It runs Vista Basic and Intel Centrino Duo.

It also runs the following:

Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Mobile Report
Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
DirectX 10

I also have Wait for Vertical Sync enabled on Option through the Guild Wars Client. FPS in maps afflicted is around 10-20.

In some maps, such as a friend's guild hall (Jade Sea) and in Olafstead, triangles of distortion flicker on and off. These distortions are of background color, and take the form of long, long triangles. I believe they are called "Jaggies" but i m not completely sure.

If anyone has advice for me, i'd love to hear from you.

Thank you, in advance.

As far as I know, Gw has trouble with the Intel 965 integrated graphics. The simplest solution is to get a better laptop.

Integrated graphics are what make laptops affordable. This makes them great for running Office apps and email clients and internet browsers, but sadly it makes them pretty poor for gaming. It also means they're not upgradeable, so you're stuck with a pup, I'm afraid.

i remember there was a problem with the GMA965 and a specific new driver release, that supposely increased performance. well, the performance increase was there, but also introduced a bunch of artifacts.

i don't know if intel released any newer drivers in the mean time, but try to update to the latest GMA965 drivers you can. it might fix it. otherwise, you're stuck with trying out older drivers (march 2007 and before, i believe) to find one that doesn't bug out on you.
