Problems with USB storage devices on Vista 64-bit
As the title says, I have problems getting my USB storage devices to work on Vista Ultimate 64 bit. It recognises them, but Vista keeps asking me to install drivers, even though they don't (or shouldn't) need any drivers to run. If I tell it to install them, it says it couldn't find any and thats it. (no suprise, since there aren't any drivers duh)
The Storage devices I got are a Freecom External USB HDD 400 GB and a 1GB USB stick, aswell as an iPod, which doesn't work either. I don't think theres anything wrong with my USB ports, since my keyboard, mouse and headset all work without problems. Anyone got any advice for this problem? Thanks

Hmm, Vista64 does that to me as well; insert thumbdrive and it searches (briefly) for drivers. Difference is, mine finds them and installs the drive as a USB mass storage device. Maybe you just have some basic drivers missing? Although even if that's the case, the online nature of the installer should still turn up the generic drivers for USB devices.

Ok I got it fixed now... I had to re-install Vista, and the problem was solved, all devices showed up. Looks like a certain driver was missing or wasn't correctly installed, but now everything's ok. Sorry for the waste of precious forum space then, thread can be closed.
