That's the part that makes it look like a hardware issue. If a part works for awhile like that, crashes, and then keeps crashing after use, it's generally hardware.

Does it work after you've let the PC rest for a little while?

May be mobo problem, not so complicated and costly to fix if you've got the knowledge and can find an equivalent mobo. As Katsumi said, it smells and sounds like hardware problem.

About SP2, do NOT try to get it from any website other than microsoft ones, unless you're 100% (not 99%) sure it's legit. This download may do the trick, but it's not guaranteed:

To the OP: How much RAM do you have? How large is your Page File?

Officially, I can't recommend anyone using pirated software. Just like I can't talk about ways to block popups from this site. And it was a joke, so...

Page file wouldn't affect it, I don't think. Unless there's a memory leak in Gw. If there was, we'd be getting a lot more threads about it. Plus, all that stuff was in the everest report he posted.

i'd say it has EVERYTHING to do with winXP sp1, since this looks like a problem with the operating system not addressing memory correctly.
I stand corrected. But it's Windows doing it in this case, not Gw. Good and bad, in sense.

Ok, I won't bite on the trolling message, though I was about to. Back on topic:

We can't say for sure. I'm no HW specialist, but my short XP shows me that problems can be on both sides and exhibit the exact same symptoms. IMHO Chocobo1 should try to install SP2 from there:

It has to be Windows or a hardware problem; since I had the same problem WITH a legit copy of Windows with the "latest" updates (from 2 years ago, gotta take that in consideration) I doubt it's Windows. However, the fact that Windows itself isn't updated surely doesn't help.

It's not GW as the poster said that it affected 3 games; for my case, it was all 3D-based games, I can tell you what I had installed on mine when I had such problems:
- Deus Ex GTOY Edition
- Diablo
- Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction
- Guild Wars
- Age of Empires 2
- WarCraft 3
- StarCraft
- Timelapse

The only games I had which wouldn't crash were SNES and GBC/GBA emulators... and I can't say it's not legit because I owned the games either on SNES, on GBC/GBA or on PS1 (if you own the games it's legit).

If we are still out of ideas on this, I think it is a combo of hardware and drivers from nvidia. Somewhere in this thread the OP said they are using the "latest drivers". I am not using the latest drivers I am using 169.??(I am at work atm) I have no issues at all. My suggestion is to download driver sweeper and the 169 drivers. Then sweep all the nvidia drivers and install 169. Then use rivatuner or *shudder* Ntune to turn the fan speed up. The fan speed is set to 29% and I have never seen it move on its own.

This is really awkward.

The rules of this forum strictly ban any and all mention of pirated software and, in this case, we really can't offer further advice.

This may make me look like an egotistical dictator type, but really, I'm not. Software piracy, regardless of anyone's personal opinion, is a totally taboo subject on this forum.

Buy yourself a legitimate OEM copy of XP or Vista from Amazon or other trusted source, then come back and we'll help in any way we can.

Default About my c000005 error

Mmmk I do actually have a legal copy of windows so please try not to close my thread. I'll install it because I'm actually really desperate for help on this even if my tone wasn't as urgent as it seemed.

Ok first I'll upgrade to the latest Service Pack, but the problem is I don't really think that it's that. My computer's hardware is still the same as the other thread but I can repost the report if you like.

Someone posted that, but it doesn't have any fix on it? Can someone give some clarification on that?

Wait, you need to clarify the issue you are having? I am confused.

Post your PC specs, what you are doing when said error occurs, what Windows type you are trying to install, and how old the install disk is.

Oh, I see. You posted a new thread Chocobo1. I am going to merge the two threads ok? It is going to the software area. I will leave a redirect for you. Keep discussion to that thread.

However, illegal software is a big no no, and we can't help you with it. If it ends up we find out it is illegal, There may be bad consequences to serve for lying. So, if it is illegal, you need to let us know, and be honest about it. If it is legal, then we can continue to help you.

Install the legal version and get back with us. The problem should resolve itself. You can also update the key to the legal version. The issue should go away with SP2 or SP3. I would HIGHLY recommend SP3, as performance increases for GW1 are 20-35%.

I really doubt it has anything to do with the servicepack. I had the same issue on my old computer as well and it was fully updated.

Still, in order to help you further, we need to eliminate that as a possibility. So, you need to install the legit version and post that you updated it. That will make sure it isn't the issue and we will only help if the version is legit.

K this might be awhile since I'm going to go to a mates house and he can reformat my computer and install the legit windows at the same time. So It might be a few days before I get back to this thread :P
