i heard reports that sp3 caused BSOD on AMD based computers. i don't know if this is fixed or not.

I've received the Blue Screen of Death only once, but that was when I was trying to get Exteel to work. Needless to say, I won't be playing that game. Though, I don't know if it's SP3 issues or not.

moriz, that's not entirely true.

Yes, it did cause BSODs however that was ONLY on HP computers and it was NOT Microsoft's fault at all.

Actually, going through Windows Update it installs quickly. Installs take a long time because all hotfixes not detected are installed, plus previously unreleased ones.

And moriz you're right. The reason for the conflict was because HP used a default image with both Intel and AMD system files on it, and that FUBARed the machines. Microsoft put out a fix to help resolve the issue. And that was because people reported the errors to Microsoft using the built in Error Reporting service! Which is why people should never disable it.

Common problem among my freinds have been that windows update stops working after SP3.
Any update you try to install will fail or it wont even find any updates at all.

If you run into this you will need to re register windows update files.

net stop wuauserv
regsvr32 /s wuapi.dll
regsvr32 /s wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 /s wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 /s wucltui.dll
regsvr32 /s wups2.dll
regsvr32 /s wups.dll
regsvr32 /s wuweb.dll
net start wuauserv
