Default Putty...

Uhh this might be too confusing to ask, but I'll try.
Here's the deal, I am at school (college, 2nd year) and would very much like to torrent. The problem here is that the ports are blocked... and there is obviously(?) no way to open them.

So..... I was reading all kinds of things about how to get around it, and have somewhat arrived at a solution - but I'm not exactly sure on how to go about doing this.

This is what I want to do - (probably gonna get confusing now) - Have my mom, at home, download Putty... and see if she can connect to my computer here at college - then torrent through Putty into me (I have OSX, XP, and Ubuntu all available [OSX on my Mac, and the other two on my desktop]). I read that you can get a "SSH" account on the interwebz, but the free ones are... goofy... and I don't want to pay. Once you have the account, you connect to it through Putty (minimal experience with that program) and tunnel a port, then set that port in your client (I use uTorrent).

I guess the question is... how would I have her connect to me? Would I set up a shell account on Ubuntu and have her SSH into that account? (then... how do I do that, and how would she set it up so the torrent went through) Or could she just put in the IP of whatever OS i'm on at the time... and putty that up?

Not really sure here............. any help would be greatly appreciated.

tl;dr - How do I run a torrent download through Putty?

Alternate:: I also thought that I could walk her through simply downloading the torrent on the "home" computer - then Remote Desktop or something to that computer and just copy the files. Is RD the best way to do that? Or... like I mean she can upload to my FTP, but that takes freakin forever... or burn/mail them - but that costs money and time and resources blah blah. I guess VNC or Remote Desktop would be options there.

Either way, thanks to anybody who can help.

Well, is it possible to create a custom RSS feed?
Have your mom set up something like uTorrent, and have it subscribe to your custom feed.
Have her leave it up all the time, and it will download files as you add them to the feed. (im pretty sure some bittorrent clients allow themselves to be accessed over a web interface, so you wouldnt need a feed)

Have the torrent go to a FTP folder. You will be limited to her upload speed, but thats the fastest you would be able to get it from that computer anyway, unless you burned/LAN to the folder

As for Putty....seems tragically complex.

use BitComet - you don't have to mess with ports I've used it 3-4 yrs and never had any trouble with it...
