Smile Radeon HD 4850 Glitches

Hello everyone,

I just bought GW last week and played some then a friend bought it and I noticed that the graphics are different and his VCard is a lot older than mine. I believe I have a mipmap problem and I consulted multiple gw related sites but I wasn't able to find a solution yet.

Here is a screenie of this glitch, look in the distance and you'll see what I mean :

I hope you ppl can help me solve this. It aint a problem when I am in a closed area, but after the searing it gets annoying (being surrounded by boxed stuff that is).

Thnx in advance.

If you mean the blurred trees, I think that's by design - GW simplifies distant objects. Not sure that anything can be done about it.

Yes I do mean that, but my friend uses some old NVIDIA and everything is just fine. :-/

GW loads low resolution sprites on certain distant objects to save processing power. You'll notice these sprites often throughout the game as you can constantly move closer to them and further away to watch them change from spirte to 3D render. Sometimes the distance differs but this is purely intentional and not a bug as far as I know.

though as far as i know, if you take a screenshot, that sprite disappears and only the actual 3D object gets captured.

it could be that you haven't downloaded all the game data yet. who knows. i have the exact same graphic card, and those 2D sprites never appear in my screenshots.

but he did take a screenshot... and you can observe the opposite.

I can also confirm that is somewhat an issue (i have radeon hd 4870), more than it was before I upgraded from my old 3870

Here we go again

If this does turn out to be a bug, I've had it for at least a year...

Hmm well I just upgraded recently to a HD4870 so I'll check if I notice any differences like this. At the moment from just the screenshot I'm fairly sure it's not a bug.

OK, I understand that, prolly the screen doesn't rly show what I mean. I'll make a few new ones after the searing in some open area. What i mean is that some textures at mid range from me become 2d and after them everything turns back to 3d again and it's frustrating some do and some do not. Also my friend, the one with NV doesn't have that glitch. Sure the game simplifies the textures BUT his textures dont turn into 2D boxed lunch at mid range.

Sorry if I am making no sense but this is frustrating. :-/

Does he say that, or do you have some actual proof of this. Because it's a game "feature".
