Default Windows XP Problems

Hey, well I get straight to it.

I was playing Oblivion then switched over to GW, on my new machine to test out the new videocard when all of a sudden it crashed. SO I restart the comp, it will boot the windows XP screen(The one with loading bar running across) but then when it gets to the desktop it loads the standard light blue background with the mouse being able to move but nothing else being able to load. You also cant Crtl-alt-delete or any commands. It does this everytime it starts up now.

Anyone have any advise on what to do now? How to fix it would be Great!.

Thanks.

Virus.
Spyware.
Junk on your PC.
Disc error.

Any combination of these. Or just one.

Check if it's loading explorer.exe. CTRL + ALT + DEL = Task Manager. If not go to run (in the task manager) and manually type in explorer.exe and press enter. Donno if it will work but it may be worth a try.

At this point it's very hard to say what the problem is. It would be worthwhile now that you can get into Windows to run sfc /purgecache and then sfc /scannow
