Since no specs are listed, but its a prebuilt comp with Home Basic, my first guess would be that its just weak. So reloading the desktop when you exit GW might be it. XD

sometimes i also suffer slight lag after heavy gw play but we have to remember that gw possibly uses a cache and as windows is ram hungry as well as enough ram left over for gw it may take a few mins to delag and recover - mines normally bk to normal within a few mins.
If its too much of an issue check to see what drives have virtual memory assigned to them and see if its enough.
When gw is running and you check task manager you`ll notice gw does use a lot of cpu usage as well - so in a way check whats running in memory first and close anything non essential - im lucky where i only have 32 processess running but i do run 2 different windows xp - one for gaming and 1 for normal use ( it has over 50 processes running ).
Also may be worth clearing temp files as gw may have a cache there and temp files i find are rarely cleared by windows itself.
Hopefully this may be of use as its the only advice i can offer

simple as that GW has been using lots of memory and cache so it's cleaning that up, and it can take a little bit if your computer isnt the fastest and doesnt have alot of ram
