Default High CPU Usage

Hey,

Lately my pc's really been slowing down, i'm not sure what this is due to however.

I had an issue with my video driver a while ago but i have since reinstalled it and it fixed things for a while, i used to get 150fps on GW and 125fps CoD4 constantly. However now both of these have dropped to about 55-60 (no vsync on).

Outside of gaming my firefox has become very very slow when multiple applications are running (something that the pc has never had issues with previously). When i bring up taskmaster it tells me that cpu usage is at 100%, on the processes page firefox is listed usually at about 80-90%. Particuarly when using bbc iplayer services or youtube etc.

Any idea's as to what would be causing this?

My firefox also gave up saving any of my "private data" such as logins a while ago, despite all the options telling it too keep email address logings etc saved.

Virus/spybot scans havent brought anything up other than the usual adware and i can't figure out what's wrong. Although i am using an outdated mcafee shiteware.

Have downloaded the free AVG and see if it picks up anything.

Please post your full computer specs for us.

It sounds like a bot/trojan/virus, but we need more info to really say.

ctrl+alt+delete check what is on. Just "cut down" what you dont need.
Check installed progs. Compare the list when everything was ok and your new list. Maybe somg progs overload memory?

Awesome instructions for pc clean. It helped me alot.

well, if you have a Pentium D CPU, then that explains some of it.... esp. when watching Youtube or such activities. That is a way out dated processor that you have there.

True it's an outdated processor but this pc has always managed everything i'm currently using it for perfectly.

It's only recently these issues have appeared so i seriously doubt it's that, i'll try those clean up things from wiki.
