Default Password keeping software?

Wondering if anyone has any advise or thoughts about this.. I know of 2 different "free" applications that both claim to be secure and able to store passwords/usernames in such a manner that should be "safe" from hacking..

Just curious about people's experiences with either, or what (if either) they would suggest using.. if one wanted to use a program to store passwords on a computer..

KeePass Password Safe - http://keepass.info/index.html

Password Safe - http://passwordsafe.sourceforge.net/index.shtml

Thanx in advance to any/all replies, thoughts, suggestions

Yeap, I've been using Keepass.

It's a nice piece of software, it'll also create random passwords if you don't quite feel upto the task.

hmm, from what I've read Password safe also can generate random passwords if you want it to.

Keepass (really, really bad name) does seem to get updated more often - can be a bad or good thing.

Any specific reason for Keepass over Password Safe? How's the encryption between them both? In the end.. that's probably the main point - how do they stack up against each other for securability of passwords? And yes i know usability, look, etc does count as well.

I gave up on password programs when I couldn't remember the password to get into it.

Now I just keep them on a notepad txt file with an innocuous name.

See if Lastpass fills your needs.

http://lastpass.com/

Steve Gibson reviewed it on Security Now (http://twit.tv) podcast and gave it a glowing review after going into cryptographic detail on why its so good.
