I recently got my computer reformatted (I didn't do it). Now that the computer came back clean, and I installed Guild Wars again. (It had ran perfectly before the reformatting.) However, when I ran the game, it said:

I also tried to install DirectX End-User Runtime but it wouldn't let me. It said that I already have the latest or equivalent version installed. I did this so it would replace missing files as said in the above (missing d3d8.dll and d3d9.dll)

When I tried to update DirectX to the latest version, it still said I already have the latest installed.

I tried to update my video driver for my ATI card from Radeon9200 Pro, and when I did, it screwed up my computer graphics. It made it worse. So I had to uninstall it again.

I'm not sure what else to do. Please help.

Should you require more information, please do list in steps because I'm not very good at computers and I only managed to get some of these information out from reading what other people do.

Oh, and I am assuming that if I log onto windows without having to use a password or any other account, that I should be the administrator? Because when I went to check the 'administrator' account, it said I can now create a name, picture and password for the it. So I didn't and left it as it was thinking that I am already the administrator. Please advise if I'm wrong.

It sounds like whoever "reformatted" it didn't properly install the drivers and/or OS - particularly the video drivers. Or it could be that video acceleration is turned off. But, it could be a problem with other drivers or DirectX as well. I hope you didn't actually pay to have someone screw up your computer.

And please do everyone a favour and delete most of that wall of text - basically everything after Sound Devices.

The 9200 is a DX8 card. Install DirectX 8.1 and the latest GPU driver.

Make sure you have your Graphics drivers installed and up to date as others have said.
