Default Internet Explorer Problems

I am guessing that this forum is usually reserved for GW related issues. In a way, my issue does involve GW in the form of using IE to access the wikis and this forum as well.

IE 8 used in XP - I believe my IE has been "hijacked" by Google. It us to open with Yahoo as my home page. Now it opens at the Google search pages. All of the access icons are gone from the top of the page. All that is there is the address bar, the search box, favorites stars (that do not function), the Home button and the printer button. How do I restore these to their normal or default(?) settings?

Thank you in advance for your help.

I believe there was something on tv about IE and issues they were having with it being hijacked...I would suggest NEVER using IE!

quick search came up with this:
