Why not just jam an ethernet (or what have you) in just to give it a whirl?

Well nevermind then, I guess you must not have a spare cable lying around. Sorry, I'm just used to random computer parts being strewn about the house.

No, you're just having problems at the moment, Don't take such a defeatist attitude. Are you absolutely sure there are no possible problems, at all, with your wireless connection? No problems with your connection in general? Do you really have no other method of connection, like going to a friend or relative's house to borrow their computer or a wired modem?

So, this has been going on for a while now. A couple of weeks I take it? No response from Anet for any support tickets? Interesting. Perhaps search could pull up any similar threads. Do know what number the error was?

Snaek that sounds rather drastic, but a -repair may work if it isn't the guy's connection. Even then, an -image may just fail half way through.

Edit: http://www.guildwars.com/support/ - says they do support techincal issues.

You go to the Guild Wars Icon, in the adress field (C:/Program Files.. etc) you put '-repair' at the end. Then double click. This should work.

source: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Command_line
Quote:
Using command line arguments

Instead of using the command line (see image on the right), you can execute switches directly from your Guild Wars shortcut:
Right click on your Guild Wars shortcut and select 'Properties'.
In the 'Target Area' field you will see the location of your Guild Wars executable file: "..\Guild Wars\Gw.exe"
Write the desired command line arguments after the quote marks, each separated by a space:
"..\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -perf -windowed
It is easier to use the command line itself, reached by clicking the "Start" button and choosing "Run," when you are only needing to run guild wars with an argument once as some are set up for. Just type in the file path to Guild Wars in quotation marks, and add the appropriate switches afterwards, just like using the shortcut method above.
and i dun think -repair is drastic

first thing, its either client-side or server-side
obviously no one else seems to have the prob
so its client-side

then from there, its either a connection problem, file corruption problem, or a graphics problem
since, hes insisting that its not a connection problem
and a graphics error would produce a different kind of crash
file corruption could likely be teh prob
especially since it seems to be an "area-specific" crash

though, as he has not told us specifically wut teh error message says...
it becomes harder to diagnose

wheres the repair
maby theres a file corruption
it takes me a good hour to do the thing and it takes more than that getting the right group
i would pay these people who claim to do it in 10mins for 5k but i only got 300 gold

No, I was referring to -image, in a mixed up, jumbled way. Also, I just about ready to give up now. I wish Anet could do their own support pages and not just have an email system nobody can find.

There is no repair FILE there is a repair command that you have to physically type onto the Guild Wars path address.

Oh there are a lot of things that exist in other games that many of us would like to see in Guild Wars. More evidence of out-of-game help is one of them.

Post your PC spec please.

I know from bitter experiance that some areas/towns require alot more ooomf to get into than most others.

The mission is not broken - many people do it every day.

Or maybe you have really ranted at the wrong person one day - maybe a mod or a developer - and they have done a proper hex on your charactor.
Mmmm - thats probably it come to think about it!! :-)

Techincians are fickle beings, pleased only by sugar and caffine. Often in baked form.

One of the few was to apease a technian without baked goods is to provide specs, and I agree with Arlan that you should do this (you really should have done this at the beginning of the thread, but you seem new, so it's ok). Also, just give a whack at getting a-hold of support, I believe Anet go through PlayNC's support, which has payment bundled with techinical. Perhaps thta has been part of your searching problem?
