You can try disabling it through MSConfig.

Start > Run > MSConfig (Startup tab)

Yeah you can stop it from starting up by going to the startup tab in msconfig like tarun said and unchecking the box next to hpsysinfo.exe.

Have you rebooted since you deleted it? Heres where it's located usually C:\HP\Support\hpsysinfo.exe. Also, you absolutely should see it in msconfig, go to start menu > run> *type* msconfig >startup tab > uncheck HPsysInfo.exe.

In answer to your question about what it is, it's thier support program that gives you info about your system, serial nos, etc..

I'm not sure if this a late message or not, but I have found the solution! Delete the file called "HP Pavilion support information.lnk" You can search for it Windows because i cant remember the exact location. But once you delete it it will not bother you anymore from pressing ctrl alt s =P

Of course you are sure, you have to be because you've gone way back and dug up a thread from nearly a year ago! How could you do that without knowing if it's a late reply?

Cool Getting rid of the annoying pop up.

All you have to do is go into the All Users startup folder and look for the shortcut titles with "HP Pavilion Support Information.lnk" examine properties and remove the hotkey combo from the properties. Save and viola, It's gone!

The shortcut may be inside an inner folder within startup, but this method works no matter where the link is stored.

I am a writer so I hit the combo often in word and pagemaker, thus annoyed at the problem I just kept whacking at it until I got results.

BTW - If you delete the link, the HP Update program will just put it back. For added safety, you might want to lock the link file once you save it to prevent the updater from changing the setting. So far though I haven't had any problems.

Oh dear - thanks for the final info on this case, Chronusmcgee - lets hope it helps anyone with the same problem.

Sadly, though, you've just made the second annual resurrection to what is now a very old thread!

Heh, your very first post too - welcome to Guru

Default Registry

You might be able to remove this:
Start->Run..->regedit- Edit->Search for HP or any keyword removethe key that has anything to do with that exe.(Make a backup of your Registry). (I may be wrong)This may not be an exe but the hex-code may have been dumped in a registry key and gets rebuild every time the pc starts up or logon to ur system. After its build its then loaded in to memory.
