the CPU is the only one that looks high but i figured if the system doesn't go high (like 60+) then it should be fine right? (since the system means the whole comp O.o I think anyway, I'm no speedfan expert)

Processor looks a little hot but it's not going to hurt anything really, as long as it doesn't get up to like 60+ like you said.

Every processor is different and they all have a certain temperature where they start to melt down from the heat, or destroy themselves in other words. I think mine is like 62C threshhold or something before it starts frying out. It wont happen instantly though, it happens over time. It'd only happen instantly if you took the heatsink off and let it run, boom fiya!

You should be fine, but keeping your processor cool is never a bad idea, I'd just say try not to get it over 50-55, because the hotter it is, the faster it dies over time. Heat basically just shortens the life of electronics so the cooler = better.

EDIT: By the way It'd be eaier if you got like HWmonitor from www.cpuid.com, it's a free program (unless you go HWmonitor pro) and it doesn't install, you just download it, click it, and run it. I'd say get that and post a screenshot of your temps there.

Ok, thanks. I'll post the results later (since this is a new comp, I'm currently taking care of driver stuff for my soundcard along with windows updates so don't have time to do try that program out just now)

I'm always a bit wary of any of those generic temperature apps. I'm not sure what they are using as a basis for their measurements and how accurate they are. For instance, it's curious that that screen shot says the cpu temp is 54c, but each core is below that?

Yeah I know, Quaker. I don't think anything is 100% accurate, but it can get pretty close at least.

I trust HWmonitor in most instances though, but when my processor gets hot I don't really like to take the chance that it could be reporting cooler than it actually is, that could be bad.

I do know there's a program called Everest or whatever that some people get, it has a built in temperature monitor but that costs money, so yeah.

Yikes that is hot.

You can do something about it though, you may just need to buy new (and probably better) thermal paste, such as Arctic Silver. If your paste dries up somehow or it was not installed properly it could be making excessive heat because it's not efficient enough.

Or it could be your heatsink, some coolers are simply not good enough for the job and it may take more, but generally for non-overclocked processors standard heatsinks and such should be fine.

Also it depends on your case, and airflow, the environment of it as well. If your case is boxed up in a closed area it can make heat get trapped, turning your computer into an incubator. Having good airflow in the case is good too, you want fans to be moving that hot air out.

And finally dust, dust can be a huge culprit of heat if it is built up overtime, dusting out the PC in some cases can completely fix overheating without having to go out of your way to buy other things to help it.

Well if I don't get any graphic problems in Guild Wars and I don't get any BSOD or random shut downs, then this comp should be okay ^_^

Looks good. I'd say that 50C is still too hot but It's not much to worry about, I doubt it would cause BSODs or crashes, that's more of when its like 60 or 70 or above.

I'd say in the future try and get it cooler, but you should be fine.

You think you have it bad? My laptop's CPU gets up to 85C when playing Guild Wars

Which is why I use this odd cooling system made of garbanzo beans and a little mini fan...

Well, it's the same with my laptop Taurucis. I never actually realized it was that hot for some 2 years until I looked, it's about 80C~ too, the laptop has been 100% fine that way though.

I don't use it anymore for games but yeah, I think naturally laptops are going to be much hotter. It's still not a bad idea to keep it cool though!
