Default -Image Thing (Vista)

Ok im having trouble doing the -image thing for vista.. and dont know why.

my location is
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars\Gw.exe"
but its strange to me as i dont know where the (x86) is from...

it should be somthing like this?
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe"

so i changed the location thing to..
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image

but it does not work for some reason..
can anyone help me in this that is a vista user.

thanks

x86 = x32 = 32 Bit OS.
Assuming you installed it at the default location, the file path should be C:/Program Files/Guild Wars/Gw.exe. Try re-installing it from your latest game disk, and then create a shortcut with the -image command.

In a x64 OS, you will have two Program folders. The x86 is the default one. You'll be able to find it in your OS partition (Default: C:\)

Try creating a shortcut. Go into the program files and find gw.exe, then right click it and click "Create Shortcut". Drag the shortcut to your desktop, then right click it and go to Properties. In the Target box, after the last set of quotation marks, add -image. Then double click the shortcut and you're done.

I'm not sure what you mean by your "location", but - you should have a desktop (or Quick launch) shortcut to Guild Wars. Simply right-click the shortcut, go to "Properties", and in the "target" line, add "-image" outside the quotes so you should have:

"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe" -image

When it's finished downloading, right-click again and remove the "-image" from the target line.

Ahem - I meant to say the target line should be "something like" ....
In my case, for example it's "D:\Program Files\Guild Wars" - which brings up something I was wondering about (and intend to try out)....
I seem to recall reading somewhere that Vista moves your Templates and Screen Caps to My Documents as a security "feature" to avoid writing to "Program Files" - so, if I move GW to just "D:\Guild Wars" can the Templates and screens go back where I want them to be?
(I'll have to move everything and re-run gw.exe to get the pointers set up.. no time now, going to lunch soon, so next time I think of it I'll try it and report back.)

My Guild Wars install is in D:\Games\Guild Wars. All my screenshots and templates still go in Users\"me"\Documents\Guild Wars. Not sure if there's a way around that...

The SS/templates destination folder is a Vista / GFW thing. It can be changed, but only with some registry black-magic.

Hmm, I tried moving my GW to just D:\Guild Wars last night. I was searching through the registry to find where the pointer to the templates might be, when I got sidetracked by some Guildies who showed up (on Vent).
But, I guess from what you say, it would be easier just to go back to XP. (Or move the entire Documents folder to D: )
