Default Little Problem With Texmod

So, I was over at a friends place the other day and he told me he wanted to get texmod so he could complete the cartography titles easier. I downloaded texmod and the appropriate .tpf files. Now came the problem. When I loaded up the game through texmod, none of the cartography mod effects were there. I perused many a post all over the place and nothing was very specific.

Then I came across one post that mentioned the "post process effects" being selected in the options being the problem. When I went to his options menu I was unable to select post process effects at all. Is this a common glitch? Or does it have something to do with the fact that he's only got a 64Mb video card or that his OS is Win98? I mean, not to be rude to my buddy or anything, but his computer is just a few steps up from a fricken commodore 64. (slightly exaggerated of course)

Is there a way around it so that he can play with the post processing effects on without replacing his video card and/or computer? Or is he just going to have to suck it up and do it the old fashioned way like most of us did back in the day?

I had issues loading my textmod program too. Try going to this website for instructions:

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guide...I_enhancements

Download the following files:

http://www.mediafire.com/?ggjehzq1bjo
http://www.mediafire.com/?yuzy6pefeha
http://www.mediafire.com/?5glwmgc931k
http://www.mediafire.com/?jtbzxn2ynh0

The first file is the textmod program and the other three are the packages for each continent. I used this method and it loaded up just fine. Still working on my title, all I have left is Tyria.

After using this program I have a ton of respect for anyone who did this title without the mod. I get sick of mapping using the mod. I can't imagine how much of a pain it would have been without it. Good luck, hope it works

The "post processing effects" are related to DirectX - not sure which version though, and I'm not sure what versions of DirectX are available with Win98.
Anyway, his video card may not be capable of doing the effects, if it's as old as it sounds.

I would say he needs to get the latest version of DirectX available for Windows 98. If he already has it, then his video card is just not capable of displaying it.

TexMod requires DirectX 9. Turning off post-process effects does not affect any mods I have run. Quaker is most likely correct. Your friend may be unable to run the requisite graphic effects of DirectX 9 with that card. I don't believe using Win98 will pose any conflict.

edit: DirectX 9.0c is available for Win98.
