How does it affect those who have been similarly infected? Is there a way to check and if found to be infected, how do we remove the Virus?

Malware Scanner and a Virus Scanner. More precautions that you can take for the future is to not use IE use another browser I like Firefox. With Firefox you can go with the addon called No Script.

Xiao, the virus was up for just under 2 hours on Sunday morning. In order to be infected you would have had to meet all the following requirements: accessed the site during that time, using IE, had not updated your Windows XP since 2006 and had no virus scanner. If this is indeed the case then you can use any virus scanner out there, www.avast.com has a decent free one and it should clear it up, though everyone has their favorites.

Do you meet all the requirements? You haven't updated your XP installation since 2006? You were using Internet Explorer 6.0 or 7.0? I am sure Inde can provide the exact times, but unless you meet every last one of those requirements, I think you are a-ok.

If you do meet ANY of those ^ requirements, that is a big issue. You need to take steps to correct that immediately, Guru virus or not. Safe browsing and internet security are paramount in the modern age. Develop good habits, and you won't have to deal with viruses or worms 99% of the time.

AMEN - surfing the internet is almost always completely safe if you have some basic knowledge and common sense. XD

Ah, I see. I didn't come here for a couple of days because FF blocked Guru so I figured I'd just wait it out. Can never be -too- paranoid.

I meet none of those requirements so I'm good.
