Question SOUND ISSUE- no snd from behind player

basicaly, when im moving forward(with the camera directly behind) theres no sound for my skills. say im running forward and use ''dash'' i dont hear it. if i move the camera to the left or the right and continue running forward i do hear it. all the other sounds are fine. just not from behind the player. i know its not a big deal but it would be nice to actualy hear the sounds im sopposed to... unless its ment to be like that.

Sounds to me (hehe) like you have your audio settings on multi-speak (probably 5.1) settings, while only having 2 speakers? The game (or windows, or both) think you have a centerspeaking so everything in front of you on the screen, would be on the center-speaker.

Do you have a soundcard or motherbord with 5.1 support? Check your windows-audio settings and put it to 'stereo/2.1' , that probably will solve the problem

thanks for your quick reply Faure. heres the deal, i have my computer hooked up to a reciever through an optical cord.. i know i have 5.1 on, the sound works in the back, front and center. when i do the testing thing for the speakers in the configuration(in the sound card settings program thingy(audio deck i think mine is a dynex not sure if im allowed to post links but heres what it is - http://www.dynexproducts.com/pc-190-...ound-card.aspx ) in 5.1 the sound only comes out of the front left and front right.. maybe this has something to do with being hooked up to a reciever..? i dont really know..

anyways, ill try on 2.1.. but, would that make the back speakers not work or will i just have the SAME sound from every speaker.. who knows..

-oh im not sure if that link is to the exact same one but the details look the same.

Faure, this is weird i put the AudioDeck settings on 2+2 and i can hear the dash and other skills.. its weird having played for a while on and off (2-3 yrs) not hearing the normal sounds.. now all of a sudden "DAAAAAAAAASHHHHH" (i couldnt think of how to do the dash noise so i just did daasshh lol) makes me shed a tear, no more on and off noises as i move the camera.. i think this will make the game more enjoyable plus i think it might help with my timeing of activating skills if i can hear them..

will i have regular 5.1 with 2+2 using an optical cord to reciever or will i have to keep switching from 5.1 to 2+2 when listening to music or movies.

I have no experience using a external amplifier in combination with an optical cable, neither with a surround amplifier so i can't help you there.

2+2 i think means you have stereo up front, and stereo in the back. I think it's just 2 channels (left and right) and the back copies the sound. So you have exact the same sound from your front left and rear left (and the same goes for the right).

Can't help you there, but you can always just switch to a 2-channel while playing gw, and back when you quit gw.

Maybe you can check your guild wars ingame-sound settings to see if theres an option that speaks about multi-channel speakers.
